Things to know
We are excited for you to attend the ECS Workshop at Westminster College this July. There are some things to keep in mind before you attend the workshop:
- If you have not done so yet, please fill out this survey. If you need housing accomodations, please send an email to Karson (kqe0711@westminstercollege.edu) to let him know when you plan to arrive.
- Upon arrival, you will be have to fill out a I-9 and W-4 so that you can receive your stipend. See this page for more information on the stipends.
- If you are driving more than 50 miles to attend the workshop, you will be reimbursed for mileage. Please bring a print out of Google Maps, showing the distance from your home to Westminster College. Westminster College's address is: 1840 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.
- If you have a laptop, please feel free to bring it. There will be times throughout the week, that it will be needed. If you do not have a laptop, there will be access to a laptop or a desktop computer.
- Before attending, it would be beneficial to read the overview of the curriculum. The overview is available here. You will receive a binder with the entire curriculum at the workshop.
- Throughout the week, you will be served Breakfast and Lunch. If you are staying on campus or in the area, information will be provided for restaurants within walking distance.
- If you require ADA accomodations, please email Karson Eilers to make any necesary arrangements.
Parking and Directions
Westminster College is located at 1840 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.
Here are directions to Westminster College:
- The workshop will be held in room 354 of the Eccles Health, Wellness and Athletic Center (HWAC) at Westminster College.
- From I-80 take exit 126 for 1300 East. Drive north on 1300 East until you turn left on 1700 south. Turn left onto 1200 East.
- Continue straight on 1200 East past the stop sign and you will reach the Dumke Parking Structure.
- From the parking lot, proceed up the stairs and the workshop is in the building to your left.
- Enter the building via the left door and walk up the stairs to the top floor. At the top of the stairs, turn left and follow the hallway to room 354.
You may park anywhere on campus for free during the summer.
For Those Staying on Campus
You will be staying in Behnken Hall. You may park overnight in parking lot D (building 29 on the campus map). Check-in is between 6-10 pm on Sunday or at Monday registration (8:30 am). To reach parking lot D, take 1300 East exit off I-80 and drive north. Turn left at 2100 South, and turn right at 1200 East. The entrance for the parking lot will be on your right, just before the road curves.
Sheets, blankets, towels, and a small set of amenities (motel-size shampoo, soaps, bathroom paper products) will all be provided, but you’ll most likely want to bring a travel kit. You will be able to request fresh towels, extra blankets, etc. each night from the front desk attendant, who will be at Behnken Hall from 6-10PM.
All ECS workshop attendees will have access to the workout facilities in the Health, Wellness and Athletic Center (including pool, exercise machines and weight room).
